NEW YORK, NY, MARCH 2015 – St Nicks Alliance and Arts@Renaissance are pleased to announce, NEW WORK NEW YORK, the 1st Biennial survey of work by second year MFA students and recent graduates from across the boroughs. Presented in two parts, this is the first exhibit to bring together works by artists from all eleven New York City-based MFA programs: Brooklyn College, Columbia University, City College of New York, Hunter College, Lehman College, the New York Studio School, the New York Academy of Art, Queens College, the School of Visual Arts, Parsons, the New School for Design and Pratt Institute. Presented in an uninterrupted 5,000 square foot former retail space in the heart of Williamsburg, NEW WORK NEW YORK offers a broad view of emerging artists working in all media, each represented by multiple works or major recent projects, many presented here for the first time.

NYC Salon Showcase: A Weekend at the Old Gem Presented by Arts@Renaissance

Arts@Renaissance is scheduled to reopen its studio residency and gallery in a brand new location on Metropolitan Avenue in Williamsburg  in early 2016. In the interim, it has access to what used to be the Gem store at 695 Grand St. Williamsburg, Brooklyn 11211. Arts@Renaissance would like to invite all NYC artists to come exhibit and celebrate their work and the vibrant arts community in this great city during this weekend long exhibition in this raw exhibition space.

Opening Reception: Friday, February 27 from 7 pm – 10 pm

Gallery Hours: Saturday, February 28 & Sunday, March 1, 12 pm – 6 pm

To have your name included on the promotional materials, please send an email of commitment to participate to carrier.monica@gmail.com as soon as possible but no later than Tuesday, Jan. 27. By committing, you are agreeing to come and hang an original work of art on the installation dates noted above. By committing, we will use your name on the promotional materials including an ad in the Greenline newspaper, Facebook promotions, posters, show cards, etc.

Artists should bring and hang one of their own works (or send a representative) on: Wednesday, February 25 and Thursday, February 26 from 12 pm – 8 pm.

Open to all NYC artists. Self-curated – hanging is first come, first serve. We will have nails, hammers and ladders but any additional hanging supplies must be provided by the artist.

All unsold work must be picked up on Sunday, March 1 from 6:30 pm – 8 pm or Monday, March 2 from 12 pm – 8 pm.

This program is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council, Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer & Councilman Antonio Reynoso.

Young artists from schools across North Brooklyn display their work. The annual show exhibits the work of children who participate in afterschool and Saturday visual art programs run by the Joan Mitchell Foundation and St. Nicks Alliance.

The show runs from April 2-10 at 211 Ainslie Street at the Swingin’ Sixties Senior Center.

Jody Oberfelder Projects 4Chambers is coming soon to A@R. It’s a sensorial journey into the human heart. The performance space has been transformed into an intimate environment with corridors that function as arteries and veins leading to four discrete performance chambers. Guided by six cast members, an audience of 12 circulates through the space, monitoring their own hearts throughout this immersive multimedia performance. Get your tickets here.
